Using Aquapacks

When you start Scenery Maker, a welcome message appears in the scene window. Click to hide the message and start a new scene.

Scenery components are stored in files called AquaPacks. Each pack contains backdrops and layer images, which can be dragged and dropped onto the scene.

Viewing Aquapacks

When you have more than one AquaPack, the pack number is shown at the top of the window. Use the left and right arrow buttons to select a pack. Components from different packs can be mixed freely within your scene.

Add a scenery object

Add components to your scene by dragging icons from the AquaPack on the left, and dropping them onto the scene window. Move components in the scene window by clicking to select them, and dragging the outline to the new location.

Remove a scenery object

When a component is selected, clicking the Remove button deletes it from the scene.

Layers

When you select a component in the scene, its layer number appears in a yellow box. The number indicates the distance of the object, from 1 (background) to 12 (foreground). It is used by Aquatica to create the 3D effect.

Use the Back and Front buttons to change the selected component's layer. If another component is on the same layer, the order of the objects will be swapped: otherwise, the layer number will change.

The components in a pack are listed in distance order, starting with backdrops at the top of the list, down to the closest objects at the bottom of the list.

Tip:

Try to avoid having too many components on the same layer. Scenes work best in Aquatica if the layers are spaced out evenly.

Installing new Aquapacks

To install extra AquaPacks, click the Packs button, or go to the Aquapacks download page and follow the instructions. After installing a pack, you must restart Scenery Maker before the pack is available.

(NB: You must register before you can use extra packs).

Preview

The Preview button displays your scene full-screen. Click the mouse or press any key to close the preview window.

Use the preview to check the positioning of your scene components. Positions may vary slightly from the Scene window.

The preview shows the edges of components 'anti-aliassed' to blend with the background, instead of the jagged outlines in the Scene window.
